Parking near La Jolla Shores during summer can be hectic. Here are your best options:

Street Parking

Residential spots are available along El Paseo Grande and nearby residential streets. Read the street signs carefully - time limits and permit zones are common, and strictly enforced. These spots fill quickly on weekends.

Kellogg Park Lot

The main public lot adjacent to La Jolla Shores Beach. Free, and closest to the water. Usually fills by 8:00 a.m. on summer weekends and by 9:00 a.m. on weekdays. Arriving early is the best strategy.

Rideshare

On summer weekends, an Uber or Lyft drop-off is often the least stressful option. It eliminates the parking problem entirely and is worth considering if you're visiting during a busy time and day.

Is a Parking Permit or Fee Required?

No. La Jolla Shores Beach is a public beach with free access. There is no permit or fee required to enter the water or view the leopard sharks. The Kellogg Park parking lot is also free.
