In 2008 the best thing to ever happen to me was the great recession. I lost all hope of being in finance and ended up on the beach. What started as a small ocean adventure company blossomed into Everyday California and became a passion. I seriously love clothes. If I wouldn’t wear it, I won’t make it. That goes for our female apparel as well. -Chris
Quality has always been the focus since day one. It took years to find the right materials and manufacturers that truly represent the Golden State: quality, comfort and accessibility. Today the majority of our products are manufactured right here at home. But I won’t lie, for some of our more technical styles we manufacture abroad while still maintaining our quality standards.
Our search for quality comfort begins with cotton grown right here in the U.S. Some of which comes from just outside of Fresno, CA that's free of pesticides, herbicides, gmo's, toxic fertilizers and only has a 200 mile carbon footprint from farm to factory.
From there, the fabric is cut and sewn in Los Angeles. Each piece is then garment dyed with a softener for a perfect fit and feel. This means the garment is first made and then dyed instead of dyeing the fabric on a roll before the cut-and-sew. The process of garment dyeing allows virtually no shrinkage, ensuring each piece will fit right for as long as you own it.
Once completed the garments are commercially washed and dried which results in a softer feel and richer color. This new fabric combination feels extremely soft in the hand. Comfort never looked so good.
Picture the chillest bear in the world. Now burn that picture. Brutus the bear cannot be compared to anything or anyone that has ever existed, not even Winnie the Pooh.
The Legend of Brutus can be linked back to the beginning of the Golden State herself. The Golden Bear has been gracing the California State flag for over a century. The genesis of the flag lies in the Republic of California’s rebellion against Mexico in 1846 (Brutus was not there and does not condone land grabs). Over time the flag was modernized and adopted as the regulation flag for the state of California. The original bear was modeled after the last surviving Grizzly in California. His name was Monarch and it was said he was chillest bear of his time.
Brutus, the bear you see on our apparel is a descendant of Monarch. He carries with him the proud heritage of his great grandfather and the prestigious lineage that has been passed down. Wear Brutus proudly on your chest and and let the rich history of the California lifestyle inspire you and influence you throughout your day.
Lastly, our quality apparel would not be possible without the adventure side of Everyday California. The soul of our company lies within the tours and experiences our amazing guides give of the La Jolla Ecological Reserve. The beauty and wonder of the ocean lives in each of us and we put that into every article of clothing we make. This gives each piece an unmatched authenticity.
